ZERO CARBON ROADMAP

We’re committed to halving emissions by 2035 and achieving net zero by 2050. On December 13th 2023, Sharp Group announced its commitment to halve the company’s Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2035. The target is in line with Ireland’s CAP 23 roadmap.

Sharp Group will work closely with its supply chain and stakeholders to achieve its carbon footprint and contribute to Ireland’s decarbonisation strategy.

ACHIEVING NET ZERO

Our carbon action roadmap is defined by a set of actions that are designed to address the significant reduction of Scopes 1, 2 and 3 of our carbon reduction plan.

  • Moving towards sustainable transport: From 2030 we will begin the transition of our vans to lower carbon output vehicles. As the business grows, we will continue to investigate the efficiency of Ireland’s EV infrastructure to adopt EVs in the purchase of new vans from 2030.
  • Purchasing renewable energy: From 2025, where possible will reduce Scope 2 emissions through the purchase of green energy to run our business operations.
  • Decarbonisation strategies: We will continue to progress our decarbonisation programme with initiatives such as Cloud Forest.
  • Carbon credits: During our programme of transition over the next 10 years, we will look to purchase carbon credits that support our UN SDG goal of Life on Land (Goal 15).
  • Active energy savings: We have implemented an employee charter to address efficiency within our business operations reducing server requirements and by basic housekeeping such as switching off unnecessary equipment during out of office hours.
  • Advancing the circular economy: Our commitment is to support and work with our supply chain partners to move towards more sustainable materials and activities, supporting Goal 17 of the UN SDG framework – Partnership for the Goals.
  • Material and waste: We have put in place a programme of activities to focus on the smallest of outputs including the purchase of recycled paper from 2024 onwards.
  • Zero to landfill: We have put in place a strategy to ensure that all significant equipment is recycled responsibly – such as old PCs.
  • Transport and travel: We will continue to promote the use of sustainable travel and consider implementing cycle to work and electric company cars. All company cars are either electric or hybrid models.
  • Annual reporting: All metrics will be reviewed at ISO14001 Management Review Meetings, and an annual deep dive of new calculations takes place in April each year.
